If you’ve had a technology those same restorations can become bonded to your teeth during the appointment. To teach his patients how the CEREC milling system works, Dr. Brad Greenfield, your Lake Orion, MI dentist explains in this article.
What Does CEREC DO?
The CEREC milling system is an in-office machine that creates beautiful ceramic restorations during your dental visits. A number of perks surround this method of dental technology. First, patients no longer have to wait weeks for their crowns, veneers, or bridges to come in from a lab. Secondly, the doctor can complete as many adjustments necessary, in a timely fashion, to ensure the patient receives a flawless, custom-fitting restoration.
The system works as follows. The dentist takes your impressions in the same manner; however, rather than shipping the results to a lab, the doctor places the information into the CEREC machine. This unit creates a live 3-D model of the tooth (or teeth), which Dr. Greenfield can adjust as needed. Then, within minutes, the machine mills the restorative pieces from blocks of ceramic. Once the teeth have been manufactured, the doctor is able to place them right away. This eliminates the need for temporaries or excessive wait times.
The Cost of a CEREC Restoration
Many dental insurance policies cover the cost of crowns, if it’s deemed a necessary procedure. For example, if a tooth is severely decay or cracked and adding a crown is the only method of treatment, then the company will pay for the restoration. The same rules apply for the CEREC made restorations. If you’re unsure what your final cost is, consult with your Lake Orion, MI dentist. He can tell you how much your insurance is willing to pay and what the final out-of-pocket cost is.
