You know from learning about us that we strive to take a green approach to dental care (Hint: You can charge your electric cars in our parking lot and we rely on digital imaging rather than conventional imaging). While you may feel good knowing you’re doing your part to protect our world by seeing our team, you may also wonder if there are any steps you and your family can take at home with your dental hygiene to keep our environment safe. Good news: We have some easy suggestions!
Don’t Leave The Water Running
Oh, this is a simple one and also something that’s easy to overlook! When you brush for two minutes (as we suggest) and you leave the water running, this can waste quite a lot of H2O. “But it’s just two minutes!” you may think. Well, it’s actually four minutes every day. Go ahead and use a container to see how much water that is during just one dental hygiene session then multiply it out over a day, a year, and even a lifetime! Turning the water off is very helpful.
Use Only What You Need
You may not realize that when you use more mouthwash or toothpaste than you actually need, you’re using up energy and creating extra waste faster than necessary. Why not go through just one tube of toothpaste in the time that it usually takes you to go through two? (You’ll end up saving money, too!). Remember:
- You only need a new toothbrush every three to four months
- You only need a pea-size dab of paste for brushing
- You don’t need more than 18 inches of floss per session
