We believe in a holistic approach to repairing teeth, a process that uses metal-free dental work to transform and improve your smile. With the CEREC system, our team can actually create and place custom crowns in one day. In today’s blog, your Lake Orion, MI, dentist talks about our CEREC restorations.
When Teeth Should Receive a Crown
A dental crown covers the entire visible portion of your tooth, which means we can take on cosmetic and restorative concerns too severe for a filling or bonding procedure. For example, we can treat advanced decay or even take on infection by completing a root canal procedure. We can reshape malformed teeth and repair cracks or chips too. Placement can improve bite balance and chewing function too. If you have missing teeth, we could use one or two to secure a custom bridge, or one to restore a single tooth dental implant. With CEREC, we can create and secure them in only one visit.
The Same-Day CEREC System
To begin, our team will numb the tooth being treated to keep you comfortable as we remove a small amount of outer structure from the tooth. Next, our team will take detailed digital images and impressions of the teeth from multiple angles, using these to create a 3D impression far more accurate than a physical impression. We design the restoration and then unload the information into an onsite milling machine. Next, we will craft the crown from a solid block of ceramic, ensuring the restoration will be durable and able to handle daily bite forces. We can also shade the ceramic to ensure the finished product blends with the tooth. When the restoration is complete, we will attach it with a powerful bonding agent. You then leave with a fully restored tooth after only one visit!
Protecting Your Smile
To help the new restoration remain bright and in place, and to safeguard the rest of your smile too, be sure you see our team for a checkup and cleaning visit every six months. Take time to brush and floss your teeth each day too and if possible, cut back on the sugar and starch in your diet and avoid tobacco products. These actions help keep serious concerns like tooth decay, dental infection, and even gum disease at bay. If you have any questions about how we create and place our CEREC same-day dental crowns, then contact our team today to learn more.
