When you have multiple missing teeth, too severe to be addressed with a bridge or single dental implant, then you may need a set of dentures. We have both full and partial options to restore smiles to optimal health, function, and beauty once again. In today’s blog, your Lake Orion, MI, dentist talks about our porcelain dentures.
The Impact of Losing Your Smile
When you lose one to three missing teeth in a row, you could benefit from a bridge. But if you have multiple gaps in your smile, or if you have lost the majority of them, then you need a set of dentures. Otherwise, you could have difficulty eating a variety of foods and speaking clearly could be a problem too. You could feel embarrassed about your appearance, and your remaining teeth could shift to create poor alignment. But with a set of prosthetics, we can restore function, health, and beauty to your smile once again.
Designing and Crafting Your Dentures
We have two different options: full and partial. A full replaces every tooth on one or both arches, while a partial addresses the multiple gaps spread out across the arch. Both contain new ceramic teeth set in an acrylic base. The teeth will be shaded to offer a natural appearance, and the base is designed to mimic the appearance of gum tissues. To create them, we will examine your smile, and may remove the last few teeth to pave the way for your prosthetic. We then take detailed digital images from multiple angles and use them to design and craft your custom dental prosthetic. We want to ensure a proper fit and a balanced bite!
Supporting a New Smile
When your prosthetics are ready, we will secure them in place. With a full, we can use suction and/or adhesive to keep your new smile in place. With a partial, metal clasps will connect to natural teeth to hold your new teeth firmly in place. They need to be removed for cleaning and soaking to ensure they remain pliable and strong. Each set will last about 5 to 10 years on average, requiring replacement as the jaw ridge changes shape over time. If you have any questions about how we create and secure a set of dentures, or if you have substantial numbers of missing teeth, then contact our team today. We want to help address your tooth loss so you can smile with confidence and enjoy a better quality of life.
