With advanced dentistry, our team can provide treatment to repair decayed or infected teeth, and even repair damage or replace missing teeth. We also use holistic materials that bond with your smile! In today’s blog, your Lake Orion, MI, dentist talks about how we can improve and preserve your smile with advanced dentistry, employing materials that are safe for patients of all ages!
Our Dental Fillings
When you have a cavity, then you need treatment to prevent the issue from becoming an infection or leading to adult tooth loss. With a filling, we will numb the tooth and then remove the decay before we clean it thoroughly. Our team then applies the filling material. Instead of metal, we use composite resin, a durable and biocompatible material that bonds with the tooth structure. The material can be shaded to blend with the tooth and look natural. In fact, we use the same material in our dental bonding procedure to mask multiple cosmetic imperfections and improve overall smile beauty. In one visit, this material can make a huge difference in the health and beauty of your tooth.
Same-Day Dental Crowns
When you have more substantial injuries, cavities, or issues with the shape of your tooth or the balance of your bite, we could help with a dental crown. The restoration will be custom-made to blend with your smile and offer a more lifelike appearance. We use ceramic to ensure this. In addition, we can complete the entire process in only one visit with advanced dentistry. Using the CEREC system, we will numb the tooth and remove structure from it. Next, we take digital images and in the same visit, create a 3D model that we upload into an onsite milling machine. This crafts your custom crown from ceramic, and in the same sitting we will attach this to your tooth, so you leave with a healthier and more attractive smile.
Porcelain Bridges
As we mentioned above, advanced dentistry can be used to replace missing teeth and offer a full smile, protecting you from issues eating and speaking, as well as misalignment and other complications related to tooth loss. If you have between one and three missing teeth in a row, then we can gently remove structure from the teeth on each end of the gap, known as abutment teeth. We then take detailed digital images and with the CEREC system, we will mill the custom bridge in one visit. The ceramic prosthetic contains new teeth with crowns on either end, and we place the crowns on the abutment teeth. You know have lifelike and durable replacement teeth that can stay in place for as long as 15 years in some cases!
Custom Dentures
What if you have tooth loss too severe for a bridge? Then with advanced dentistry, we can offer a custom denture. For cases in which you have multiple gaps spread out across the arch of your smile, we could offer a partial denture. If you have lost all of your teeth on one or both arches, we could offer a full set. Both options contain custom ceramic teeth set in an acrylic base that looks like gum tissue. With the partial, metal clasps will attach to natural teeth to keep your denture in place. Fulls will rely on suction or adhesives to remain in place. Both can last about 5 to 10 years on average, and we will provide instructions to ensure they are cleaned and soaked properly to stay pliable and fit comfortably for years to come.
SureSmile Aligners
Did you know with advanced dentistry we can offer an alternative to braces to correct your misalignment? If you have uneven teeth, then we can provide a custom series of clear and comfortable plastic aligners. Each set gradually shifts your teeth and for some, an even smile is possible in as little as one year. The aligners are easy to clean and maintain, and can be removed before meals, special occasions, or brushing and flossing, so your daily experience is much simpler than if you were wearing braces. If you have any questions about our approach to advanced dentistry, then contact our team today to learn more.
