When you need to receive a dental restoration, we want to offer one that looks good and is also made from safe and holistic materials. Which is why we offer same-day CEREC crowns! In today’s blog, your Lake Orion, MI, dentist talks about how we create and place lifelike dental crowns in only one visit.
The Need for Dental Crown Placement
When does a tooth benefit from receiving a dental crown? The restoration covers the entire visible portion of your tooth, which means we can address minor and severe restorative issues. For example, we can treat cavities and repair damaged teeth. Placement can complete a root canal for an infected tooth, and add lengthen to worn down tooth structures. We’ve used them to address misshapen teeth and even improve bite balance and chewing function. They can also help address missing teeth, as one or two could secure a bridge, and one could restore a single tooth dental implant.
The CEREC Same-Day System
The traditional method for receiving a dental crown could require two to three visits. But we’ve embraced a digital alternative with the CAD/CAM CEREC system. With this option, our team can secure a new one in only one visit! To begin, we will numb the tooth receiving one and then remove structure from it. Once we do, we will take detailed digital images and impressions of the tooth, which we use to design the new restoration. We then upload information into the onsite milling machine, which crafts your custom one from a solid block of ceramic. The completed restoration will look natural and be shaded to blend with your tooth. We then check the fit and attach it with a powerful bonding agent. In one visit, we restore your tooth!
Keeping Your Restoration Strong
You can take steps to ensure the strength and stability of your dental crown. To help it last, and at the same time protect natural teeth, you should brush and floss daily. You can also help by avoiding tobacco products and limiting your consumption of sugary foods and drinks. Finally, be sure you see our team for an exam and cleaning every six months, so we can monitor your smile, including your newly restored tooth. If you have any questions about how we treat smiles with our same-day CEREC crowns, or if you would like to schedule your first checkup of 2025, then contact our team today.
