When you have a cracked or chipped tooth, or one with decay, then you should consider seeing our team. With advanced dentistry, we can not only repair teeth, but replace missing ones too! In today’s blog, your Lake Orion, MI, dentist talks about helping smiles with advanced dentistry.
Dental Fillings
With advanced dentistry, we can take on tooth decay and provide lifelike results. Our dental fillings are made from metal-free composite resin, safe for all ages and able to be color matched, so they look natural. The placement process is simple. When you arrive, we will numb the tooth so you remain comfortable as we remove decay and etch the outer surface. We then prepare and place the filling material in several layers. While the composite resin cures beneath a light we can sculpt and mold the tooth to ensure proper bite balance. The last step is to polish the tooth, which makes it brighter! In one visit, we can stop decay and protect your teeth.
Same-Day Dental Crowns
As with fillings, our advanced dentistry treatment involves using holistic and metal-free materials. If you need a crown, we will opt for an all-ceramic option that can be shaded to blend with your smile. We also have zirconia, which is metal-free and more durable, often reserved for side and rear teeth. With the CEREC system, we can create and place ceramic crowns in only one visit. No need for two to three appointments!
We will first numb the tooth so you don’t feel discomfort as we remove structure to make room for the crown. Next, we will take detailed images and measurements to create a 3D impression, which we use in lieu of a traditional physical mold. We upload the digital images into an onsite milling machine, which crafts the ceramic crown. We shade this to blend with your smile, and then attach it with a powerful bonding agent. All of this only takes one sitting!
Porcelain Bridges
What if you have one or more missing teeth? With advanced dentistry, we can offer porcelain bridges to take on minor tooth loss with lifelike results. With a bridge, we create a custom prosthetic with new teeth and crowns attached to each end. The crown portions are attached to the natural teeth on each side of the gap. This supports one to three missing teeth in a row, and can stay in place for up to 15 years with proper care and attention. The porcelain material is of course shaded to blend with your smile!
Full and Partial Dentures
If you have more advanced tooth loss, we could offer a new smile with custom dentures. For cases in which you have several gaps spread out across the gap, we could offer a partial denture. If you are missing most or all of your teeth, we could place a full denture. Both are custom-made to ensure a proper fit and a lifelike appearance. These are removable and can last about 5 to 10 years before replacement is needed. We will discuss how to soak and clean them, ensuring they can last as long as possible.
SureSmile Aligners
What if you have poor alignment? This could alter the appearance of your smile and threaten your oral health. But instead of metal braces, we could offer clear SureSmile aligners to correct your smile. This is often preferred by our teen and adult patients. These are custom-made to ensure a proper fit and treatment with precision, and each set is made from a clear and BPA-free plastic material. You will wear a set of about 20 to 22 hours a day on average, over the course of about two weeks. You then begin wearing the next set in the series. For some, optimal results could take as little as one year. Being removable means you can take them out before meals, no need to alter your diet. Removability also means an easier time brushing and flossing, as you don’t have to work around metal braces.
