Dentures Mean New Smiles That Look Natural

April 7, 2026

Dentures provide a way to secure advanced tooth loss, including the loss of most or all of your natural teeth! With full or partial dentures, we can provide a holistic and metal-free option that looks natural. In today’s blog, Lake Orion Family Dentistry talks about creating porcelain dentures in Lake Orion, MI.

The Factors Behind Lost Teeth

How do we lose natural teeth? For some people, a severe case of tooth decay or infection could lead to tooth loss or require teeth to be extracted to prevent infection from spreading. Others could suffer from tooth loss due to injury, or in most cases, the onset of periodontitis. When you lose a significant number of your natural teeth, this could weaken your jaw and lead to limited meal options and nutritional intake. You could have trouble speaking clearly or could feel embarrassed in social situations, which impacts your quality of life in negative ways. To restore function, health, and beauty of your smile, we could create and place dentures made from durable and lifelike materials, which are also holistic and safe for our patients!

Creating Full and Partials

To begin, we will need to carefully examine your smile. You may need underlying issues like gum disease managed, and could extract teeth that are severely infected or diseased. Our team will take images and impressions of your bite, which we use in a lab setting to design and craft a new dental prosthetic. For cases in which there are larger gaps in your smile but still a number of natural teeth remaining, we could create a partial that contains new teeth that fit in the open gaps. For total tooth loss, we could craft a full row of lifelike ceramic teeth set in an acrylic base.

Securing Your New Teeth

Your dental prosthetic will be custom-made to ensure a proper and comfortable fit, and to restore function to your smile again. We want you to regain the ability to eat your favorite foods and feel confident when you smile! With a partial, clasps will connect to nearby teeth to secure the denture firmly in place. For a full, suction or adhesives will keep them in place. They will be removable and need to be cleaned and soaked regularly and they tend to last about 5 to 10 years before a replacement is needed.
