If you have unsightly stains on the surfaces of your teeth, then you need to seek treatment. With professional teeth whitening, we can make your smile shine. In today’s blog, Lake Orion Family Dentistry discusses our two different professional teeth whitening options!
Whitening In-Office
For results in only one day, often in as little as one to two hours, then see our team for in-office teeth whitening. With this option, we will apply a special bleaching gel to the surfaces of your teeth that will break up and remove stains from them. The process helps brighten your smile quickly before a job interview, first date, graduation, or other big events.
Removing Teeth Stains from Home
If you have a more severe level of staining, we could offer our at-home teeth whitening kit. With this option, we will first take impressions of your bite to design and craft a set of plastic trays, which will fit snugly and comfortably over the teeth. We then send these trays home with you. We also provide multiple plastic syringes of bleaching gel, which you will use to help your smile shine again.
At home, just add gel to the trays and wear the trays for a set amount of time each day, usually about an hour. Your teeth could be up to eight shades brighter after a week or two of use, and you can keep the trays and remaining gel should you need touch-ups in the months to come. The trays help ensure the results will be even across your smile and prevent the saliva from diluting the gel, so you enjoy optimal results.
Keeping Smiles Bright
What can be done to help fight teeth stains down the roads and ensure your new results have the chance to really last? We suggest taking time each day to brush for two minutes when you wake up and again before bed, and to use a fluoride toothpaste each time. Also, floss every evening too. This helps fight plaque buildup and the appearance of discoloration. You should also see us for a cleaning every six months to remove harmful plaque and tartar, and to allow us to polish the teeth for a brighter appearance. At home, be sure you avoid too much sugar in your diet and cut back on drinks with dark pigments, such as tea, red wine, soda, and coffee.
