Advanced dentistry provides our team with lifelike and long-lasting restorations and prosthetics to help smiles of all ages. From same-day dental crowns to porcelain bridges, we can help restore your smile to optimal health, function, and beauty. In today’s blog, your team at Lake Orion Family Dentistry talks about helping your smile with advanced dentistry.
Dental Fillings with Composite Resin
We can often offer care in one visit with advanced dentistry. For example, if we find you have a cavity, then we could offer a filling made from a biocompatible composite resin, which can be shaded to blend with your tooth. The placement process only takes one visit to complete, and the material offers a lifelike appearance. Since it is metal-free, this is safe for all ages! The same material can be used in a bonding procedure to repair minor damage, mask teeth stains, and offer other cosmetic improvements in just one sitting.
Same-Day Dental Crowns
Advanced dentistry can also take on serious issues in only one visit with same-day CEREC crowns! That’s right, we can design, craft, and place a complete restoration in only one visit. We will first numb your tooth and remove structure to make room for your crown. We then take digital images of the tooth, combining them to create a 3D impression far more accurate than a physical one. We upload this into an onsite milling machine, which crafts your new crown from durable and lifelike porcelain. When your crown is ready, we will check the fit and then make any adjustments, finally attaching it with a powerful bonding agent. In one visit we can repair injuries, take on cavities and infection, and even boost bite balance and chewing function for kids and adults alike!
Porcelain Bridges
If you have missing teeth, then we could offer help with advanced dentistry. If you have a single missing tooth, or as many as two to three in a row, then we could help with a dental bridge. The prosthetic will be custom-made for your smile using lifelike and metal-free dental materials, such as all-porcelain. We will remove structure from the teeth on each side of the gap, and then take images of these, as well as the open space. We use this to design and craft the bridge, often in only one visit with the CEREC system. When the bridge is ready, we will attach the crown portions to the prepared teeth, securing your new ones firmly in place for years to come.
Lifelike Dentures
If you have more severe tooth loss, we could all lifelike and durable porcelain dentures. These are designed to not only look natural, but handle daily bite forces so you can enjoy your favorite foods again. If you have several missing teeth spread out across your smile, but a large number of natural teeth still in place, then we could offer a partial denture. This contains multiple new teeth in an acrylic base, and when attached it fills all the open gaps at once. If you have lost most or all of your teeth, then we could extract the last few and create a complete set of new teeth, held in place with suction or an adhesive.
These will be movable and require soaking and cleaning on a regular basis, and can last as long as a decade is properly cared for! You can enjoy a complete smile again, even if you have lost all of your natural teeth.
SureSmile Aligners
Dental misalignment, such as crooked, crowded, and overlapping teeth, can impact the health, beauty, and function of your bite. With advanced dentistry, we can help, and we can do so without the need for metal braces. Again, we have a metal-free solution. With SureSmile aligners, we will create a series of custom aligner trays that fit snugly over your teeth. Each set in the series is worn for 20 to 23 hours a day for a period of two weeks. You then repeat the process with each subsequent set until you see optional results and an even smile, which could take as little as one year!
If you have any questions about how we transform the health, beauty, and function of your smile with advanced dentistry, or if you want to learn about specific solutions we offer, then contact our team today to get started. We want to help you smile without hesitation again!
