Ensuring Your Dentures Look Natural

July 21, 2026

Do you have missing teeth, but too many to be handled with a bridge? In a situation like this, we can offer a set of lifelike and durable porcelain dentures! In today’s blog, your team at Lake Orion Family Dentistry talks about how we create and secure porcelain full and partial dentures, so you can enjoy your favorite foods and smile with confidence again!

The Need for a Dental Prosthetic

When should you consider dentures? These are designed to handle more severe and complicated cases of tooth loss, beyond the ability to be handled with traditional bridges. If you have multiple gaps spread out across your smile, but still, a significant number of teeth in place, then a partial could fill these gaps at once. If you are missing most or all of your teeth, then we could secure a prosthetic to replace every tooth on one or both arches. Our team will examine your smile to see if this is the best option for you, and then offer a new set of teeth with metal-free and holistic materials!

Creating Full and Partial Dentures

To begin, we will look closely at your smile to assess the cause of your tooth loss. If you have periodontitis, then we could discuss treatment to manage the issue with a holistic and comfortable approach, protecting your remaining natural teeth. We will also gently extract any diseased or infected teeth, and could remove the last few of you need full dentures. Our team then takes a close and detailed look at your smile, and will take images with digital technology. With this information, we can then design and craft your new prosthetic.

Your partial will contain new porcelain teeth in a base that looks like gum tissue. When in place, this fills the open gaps at once. A full contains a complete row of new teeth, and is held in place with suction or an adhesive. These tend to last about five to ten years on average, before replacement is needed as your jaw ridge gradually changes shape.

Protecting Your New Teeth

We will discuss how to soak and clean your prosthetics to ensure they can last for years to come, and discuss ways to protect any remaining teeth you may have. If you have any questions about how we help smiles with our custom porcelain dentures, or if you have severe tooth loss that needs attention, then please reach out to our team today to find out more and get started.
