Custom Dental Crowns in One Visit
Dental crowns are among the most traditional forms of dentistry, and today, they can successfully address a wide range of dental health concerns. From restoring severely damaged teeth to improving the appearance of extremely blemished teeth – and, in some cases, even replacing missing teeth – modern dental crowns are impressively versatile. Using advanced technology, we can make receiving your dental crown more comfortable and convenient, as well. Based on CAD/CAM digital imaging and milling processes, our innovative CEREC system allows us to prepare and measure your tooth, design your crown, craft it, and place it, all in just one visit.
What is CEREC technology?
CEREC stands for chairside economic restoration of esthetic ceramics, and it involves a combination of computer-aided design and manufacturing software (CAD/CAM). The digital imaging technology takes several highly detailed and accurate images of your teeth and oral structures, then digitally measures the tooth in question and its proportion to the teeth around it. This information and the digital mold generated from it are sent to the onsite milling machine, which then automatically creates your custom, porcelain dental crown in our office.
CEREC plus Primescan for higher precision
For enhanced precision and quality, we use the advanced Primescan intraoral scanner as part of the CEREC treatment planning process. The highly convenient and accurate Primescan scanner produces high resolution 3D scans and displays the images immediately. The advanced imaging technology helps us ensure that your custom CEREC restoration is the right fit.
Implant-supported CEREC crowns
CEREC is often the preferable choice for patients who need a dental crown to restore a compromised tooth. However, CEREC crowns may also be appropriate if you need to replace a lost tooth. Not only can CEREC technology be utilized to craft a lifelike dental bridge, but we can also place a custom dental crown on a single dental implant post to create a restoration that more closely mimics your healthy, natural teeth.
Same-day crowns at our office
Instead of waiting until an off-site technician crafts your dental crown and sends it back, we can design and place your porcelain crown in just one visit thanks to advanced CEREC technology.
