One health awareness day already took place this week, and one takes place tomorrow. Do you know what aspects of your health these days raise awareness about?
Wednesday, September 21, was World Alzheimer’s Day, and tomorrow, September 24, is National Family Health and Fitness Day.
World Alzheimer’s Day
Dedicated to spreading awareness about this terrible disease, the Alzheimer’s Association published little known facts, figures, and information about Alzheimer’s. Check out the video below for this information.
You may wonder what information about Alzheimer’s is doing on a dentistry blog, but your oral health and risk of developing Alzheimer’s are very connected. Periodontal (gum) disease is a serious oral condition and has been linked to diabetes, stroke, obesity, pregnancy and birth complications, heart disease, and- of course- Alzheimer’s. To find out what you can do to protect yourself from periodontal disease, call Lake Orion Family Dentistry to reserve an appointment with Dr. Brad Greenfield.
National Family Health and Fitness Day
Take advantage of the newfound fall weather and get your family outside and active tomorrow! As a family dentist, Dr. Greenfield loves seeing families spend time together. If that time can be spent doing things that are good for your health- even better! To find out if any events are going on this weekend in observance of Family Health and Fitness Day, call the City of Lake Orion and the Lake Orion Recreation Center.
