Would you say you and your toothbrush are on good terms? Perhaps you are perfectly happy with your dental hygiene but generally feel neutral about the products you use. Or, maybe you have some negative feelings toward cleaning your smile, particularly because you are none too thrilled with your brush. To help you make the most of this very important product you use on a daily basis, we would like to share a few facts that will help you keep it clean, safe, and motivating for everyday use.
Fact #1: You Shouldn’t Let It Touch Another Brush
You shouldn’t let your toothbrush come into contact with someone else’s toothbrush because there are some very specific bacteria on there that, ideally, you should keep out of your mouth. As a result, this means you shouldn’t share a toothbrush either, even with those you love.
Fact #2: You Should Like Your Toothbrush
If you don’t like your toothbrush, you may find yourself developing some unkindly emotions toward the general idea of dental hygiene. A couple things might happen as a result. You might avoid brushing because of it. Or, you might brush anyway but feel resentful. We suggest you quickly scurry over to the drugstore and find something that you do like, so you can feel positive about caring for your oral health.
Fact #3: It Doesn’t Need To Be Fancy
Your toothbrush needs to fit in your mouth and your hand and the bristle firmness needs to be “soft.” You are more than welcome to experiment with different dental hygiene options (such as giving an electric toothbrush a whirl). However, don’t become sidetracked by convincing advertising that insists a more expensive or fancy brush is going to make your plaque removal any better. A budget-friendly manual brush can offer just as much oral health protection as a high-end electric version.
