Questions and Answers
Question: When should I bring my child in for dental care? I don’t know when cleanings, checkups, and more are supposed to begin.
Answer: You should bring your child in to see us before your child’s second birthday. This will serve as an introductory checkup! Then, you will begin bringing your child to see us two times a year for checkups beginning at age three (then twice annually for checkups and cleanings at about age four or five).
Question: I know that dental sealants, fluoride, and other treatments are beneficial for children’s smiles but I don’t know how to know when to come in for them. How should I manage these dental care details?
Answer: All you have to do is keep up with your little one’s checkups. During these visits, we will talk to you about sealants, fluoride, and more.
Question: Why is it so important that I bring my child in so young? Can’t I just give it some time and start offering dental care when my child has permanent teeth coming in?
Answer: Baby teeth are extremely important in helping permanent, adult teeth form correctly. They offer protection and guidance. If baby teeth aren’t properly cared for, this can become detrimental to your child’s future smile.
