Do you ever think about the kiddos who have to spend the holiday season in the hospital? While it can be difficult for an adult, the experience for a child can become one that makes the holidays feel somewhat lonely and not at all full of the joy we so love this time of year. If you’d like to help these little ones remember that they are indeed thought of, cared about, and very much integral parts of the fabric of our greater community, then the Moonbeams For Sweet Dreams is a December-long program in which you may wish to participate.
What Is This?
Moonbeams For Sweet Dreams is a program that is put on by the Beaumont Children’s Pediatric Advisory Council. The program is in its second year and serves to bring some holiday magic to children staying in the hospital over Christmas.
It’s very simple: Throughout the entirety of December, at 8 o’clock at night, young patients will turn their flashlights on and shine them through their hospital windows. Then, those who participate will shine their lights back as a special show of support, like magical moonbeams shining in on them!
How May I Join In?
It’s very easy to join. Bring a flashlight with you and follow volunteers who will guide you toward parking. Then, join other participants in the “Moonbeams” area. It is located close to the East Entrance.
Where Is The Hospital?
The event is held at Beaumont Children’s Hospital, which is located at the following address:
3601 W 13 Mile Rd
Royal Oak, MI 48073
When Is It Happening?
The program will happen every night through December, 2019 at 8pm and continues for around 10 minutes. The nights that need additional participation include December 24th through 26th and December 29th through 31st!
How May I Ask Questions?
If you would like to speak with the hospital, they may be reached at 248-898-5000.
