If you have visited us recently, you know that we feel strongly about providing metal-free dentistry to protect your smile. If this is the case, you may have found yourself wondering what to do about work you’ve had done in the past that was not metal free. The good news is that we can replace your old metal dental work with metal-free restorations, so you can feel good about your appearance and about the materials in your mouth. Wondering how to accomplish this? Learn more with the following information:
Consultation
We will begin by taking a detailed look at your smile and discussing your desires and concerns. If you are looking to replace your metal restorations with metal-free dentistry options, we will create a customized care plan for you. We will examine your teeth and may use advanced imaging, such as digital X-rays, for a detailed look at your teeth. Rest assured, when we remove your existing restorations, we will do so through a safe method to minimize exposure to potential toxins. Our first and constant priority is your safety and comfort.
Your Metal-Free Dentistry Options
Quickly learn more about your metal-free dentistry options with the following descriptions:
- Tooth-Colored Fillings: This type of filling, unlike amalgam that is made of mixed metals including mercury, is both metal- and mercury-free. Instead, we use a synthetic acrylic-resin material called composite to fill your tooth. We will color-match this material to your surrounding tooth tissue, which means your new restoration will be both biocompatible (will not cause harm to living tissue) and will look beautiful.
- CEREC Crowns: A CEREC crown is created in one visit with the use of CAD/CAM technology. We will take digital impressions of your smile and our CEREC machine will create your crown on-site by milling a solid block of ceramic. Like a filling, your crown will be metal-free and color-customized to blend beautifully with your smile.
