Teeth Grinding and Clenching Can Do a Number on Your Teeth

June 7, 2011

People who grind their teeth often think of it as just a bad habit that they need to break. If you grind your teeth, however, you know how it feels to wake up with a sore jaw, headaches, and earaches, and you’re not alone. About one third of the population grinds their teeth.

Teeth grinding, also known as bruxism, is often caused by stress, anxiety, tension, misaligned teeth, posture, diet, sleeping habits, and other factors. Constant clenching and grinding of your teeth can also contribute to TMJ dysfunction, which has a long list of side effects associated with pain in the head and neck and wearing down of the teeth. One-Day Dental Crowns for Lake Orion and Surrounding Communities

May 24, 2011

The dental industry has made great strides in the past few years. Thanks to advanced technology, keeping your smile healthy is now easier than ever.

That being said, you have to keep in mind that things happen. You will bite down on an olive that has a pit and chip your tooth. You will have a cavity that continues to get worse because you didn’t know it was there. Happy Tooth Fairy Day!

May 13, 2011

According to the National Museum of Dentistry, today is Tooth Fairy Day!

The Tooth Fairy herself was at the museum in Baltimore, Maryland, today to show all the kids what exactly she does with all the baby teeth she collects.

We all wish we could have been there, but we’ve decided to celebrate Tooth Fairy Day here at Lake Orion Family Dentistry, and we encourage you to do the same! Dress you kids up with sparkly wands, crowns, and wings. Hide “teeth” around the house and let them go on a scavenger hunt to find them. Make this holiday fun and, more importantly, use it to teach your children how to have a sparkling smile. […]

Don’t Let Tooth Decay Get the Best of Your Smile

May 10, 2011

Tooth decay is among the leading causes of tooth loss for Americans, and it can open the door to developing serious overall health problems.

Just as healthy habits can help protect your body against disease, healthy dental habits can safeguard against tooth decay and help avert other dental problems, as well.
