Happy Tooth Fairy Day!

May 13, 2011

According to the National Museum of Dentistry, today is Tooth Fairy Day!

The Tooth Fairy herself was at the museum in Baltimore, Maryland, today to show all the kids what exactly she does with all the baby teeth she collects.

We all wish we could have been there, but we’ve decided to celebrate Tooth Fairy Day here at Lake Orion Family Dentistry, and we encourage you to do the same! Dress you kids up with sparkly wands, crowns, and wings. Hide “teeth” around the house and let them go on a scavenger hunt to find them. Make this holiday fun and, more importantly, use it to teach your children how to have a sparkling smile. […]

Don’t Let Tooth Decay Get the Best of Your Smile

May 10, 2011

Tooth decay is among the leading causes of tooth loss for Americans, and it can open the door to developing serious overall health problems.

Just as healthy habits can help protect your body against disease, healthy dental habits can safeguard against tooth decay and help avert other dental problems, as well.

First, it’s important to know how tooth decay happens. After eating, bacteria in your mouth start working to break down leftover particles of food, which then produce acids. Proper teeth brushing is not a habit that children learn overnight. It’s a process that takes time to develop and perfect. Because of this, children may develop decay on hard-to-reach molars. Dental sealants offer a means of protection for molars and premolar chewing surfaces from decay. […]

March 23, 2011

I’m Dr. Brad Greenfield of Lake Orion Family Dentistry, and, as a family dentist, I do everything we can to keep your mouth healthy. We only see you every 6 months, though, so a huge portion on your dental health is a direct result of your own personal at-home dental hygiene habits.

Brushing and flossing are the best things you can do for your teeth between dental cleanings and check-ups, but simply going through the motions isn’t enough. Several factors go into brushing and flossing properly. […]
